Fragrance Oils & Private Label

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about sourcing fragrance oils and commissioning private label incense from India — answered by the Jaygee Industries export team.

Private Label & OEM Incense

What is the minimum order quantity for private label incense from India?

For private label incense using existing formulations, the minimum is typically 5,000–10,000 sticks per fragrance for masala incense sticks. Flora or dipped sticks can start at 2,000–5,000 per fragrance. For custom fragrance development, expect minimums of 20,000–50,000 sticks. Jaygee Industries offers flexible MOQs — contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

How long does private label incense take from order to delivery?

For existing formulations with your label: 3–6 weeks production plus 25–35 days sea freight to Europe or USA. For custom fragrance development, add 4–8 weeks for fragrance trials. For air freight, delivery takes 5–7 days from Bangalore. Total from order to delivery: allow 6–12 weeks for your first order.

Can I order a sample before placing a bulk private label order?

Yes — and we strongly recommend it. We can send production samples from existing formulations within 1–2 weeks. Sample costs are typically credited against your first commercial order. For custom fragrance development, initial trial samples (100g per variant) are sent for your evaluation before any bulk commitment.

What packaging options are available for private label incense?

Options range from applying your label to our standard packaging (fastest and lowest cost), to fully custom-printed cartons with your artwork, to completely bespoke box shapes and structures. Custom-printed cartons require a minimum print run of 500–1,000 boxes. Eco-certified packaging using FSC paper, recycled board, and soy ink is available on request.

What types of incense can be made under private label in India?

Indian manufacturers can produce private label masala incense sticks, bamboo-core (flora/dipped) sticks, bambooless incense, dhoop cones, backflow cones, cup sambrani, bakhoor and resin blends, and scented candles. Jaygee Industries manufactures all of these formats from our Bangalore facility. Fragrance oils for your own manufacturing are also available.

What is the difference between masala and flora (dipped) incense?

Masala incense is made by coating a bamboo stick with a wet paste of aromatic ingredients — natural powders, herbs, and fragrance oil blended together. The scent comes from the paste itself burning, producing a richer, slower, more complex aroma. Flora (or dipped) incense starts with a plain white base stick that is dipped in fragrance oil. Flora tends to produce a brighter, more immediate fragrance. Both are available for private label production, with masala commanding a premium positioning.

Can I get a custom fragrance developed for my private label product?

Yes. Jaygee Industries has experienced perfumers who develop custom fragrances to brief. Provide a reference scent, mood description, or key note requirements and our perfumer will develop trial samples. Development takes 4–8 weeks with 2–4 rounds of revision typically needed. Your formula is protected by NDA and not sold to other buyers.

Will the manufacturer sign an exclusivity agreement for my formula?

Yes, for genuinely custom-developed formulas. Jaygee Industries will sign an NDA covering custom fragrance formulas developed exclusively for a buyer. Exclusivity on existing library fragrances is negotiated separately and typically requires a volume commitment. All exclusivity terms should be agreed before development begins, not after.

Fragrance Oils Wholesale

What is the minimum order for fragrance oils from India?

Standard fragrance oils from our library can be supplied from 1 kg per fragrance. Custom-developed fragrances require a minimum of 10–25 kg per scent to cover development costs. For incense manufacturing, we recommend at least 5 kg per fragrance for a meaningful production trial.

What applications are Indian fragrance oils suitable for?

Our fragrance oils are available for incense manufacturing (masala and dipped formats), candle making (soy, paraffin, and coconut wax), soap and cold-process cosmetics, reed diffusers and room fresheners, and perfumery. Always specify your intended application when ordering — different applications require different specifications for flash point, viscosity, IFRA compliance category, and stability.

Are your fragrance oils IFRA-compliant?

Yes. We provide IFRA certificates for our fragrance oils, specifying the maximum usage rate for your application category. Always confirm the IFRA category relevant to your product (e.g. Category 9 for burning products such as incense and candles, stricter categories for leave-on cosmetics). We provide certificates referencing the current IFRA amendment on request.

What fragrance documentation do you provide?

Standard documentation provided with fragrance oil orders includes: Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS), IFRA certificate for specified application category, Certificate of Analysis (COA) confirming batch specifications, and flash point certification. GC-MS (gas chromatography) reports are available on request for premium and custom fragrances. EU REACH compliance statements are available for export to EU markets.

How are fragrance oils shipped from India?

Fragrance oils are classified as hazardous goods (Class 3, Flammable Liquids) if their flash point is below 60°C. Shipment is in UN-certified aluminium or HDPE containers. Sea freight takes 25–40 days to Europe or USA. Air freight is 5–7 days. Samples (under 1 litre) can be shipped by DHL/FedEx with hazmat declaration. Your freight forwarder handles customs clearance with MSDS documentation we provide.

What fragrance families are most popular for export markets?

For Western markets (UK, USA, Europe, Australia): sandalwood, lavender, jasmine, rose, nagchampa, patchouli, oud/agarwood, and seasonal blends (cinnamon, vanilla, pine). For Middle Eastern markets: oud, amber, frankincense, rose, and musk. For South Asian diaspora communities globally: mogra, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, camphor, and loban. We can advise on fragrance selection based on your target market.

Shipping & Import

How do I import incense from India into the UK or EU?

To import commercially into the UK you need an EORI number (apply via HMRC). For the EU, you need an EU EORI from your country's customs authority. Incense sticks are classified under HS code 3307.41. UK import duty is 0–1.5% MFN. EU import duty is 0–2.7%. Your freight forwarder handles customs clearance. Jaygee Industries provides Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, and Certificate of Origin for all shipments.

What payment terms do you offer?

For first-time buyers: 30–50% advance via T/T (bank transfer), balance before shipment. Established buyers with a good track record may be offered 30–60 day credit terms from Bill of Lading date. Letters of Credit (LC) are accepted for larger orders. We accept payment in USD, EUR, and GBP.

Can you ship directly to Amazon FBA warehouses?

Yes. We can prepare shipments to Amazon FBA specifications including FBA labelling, carton dimensions, and pallet requirements for Amazon UK, US, and EU fulfilment centres. Specify FBA as your delivery requirement at order placement — it requires additional preparation and documentation. Amazon FBA prep must be confirmed before production begins.
